Garden Tool Organizer
Do You Know Where You Put Your Favorite Pruners, Favorite Trowel, Favorite Garden Spade?
I know I get a sinking feeling when I have everything ready to start work on a garden project and then I can’t find my favorite tools. Wouldn’t it be nice if you had good Garden Tool Organizers and could find your tools easily, instead of scrounging the entire garage, patio or yard where you think you may have used them last?
A Garden Tool Organizer is essential to keeping your garden tools together in one or more specific spots, so that you can find them when you need them. If you know where they are, you can also keep track of whether your tools need cleaning or sharpening. Furthermore, if you have a set place for garden tool storage, there are fewer chances for accidents…like stepping on a hoe or hand cultivator that has been left turned upward.
If you are anything like me, you want to have some of your larger tools stored in the garage on a garden tool rack in an organized fashion. Since my garage is near the front yard, this also takes care of those garden tools I want to use in my front yard. But, I also want summertime garden tool storage in my back yard so I don’t have to schlep them from the garage.
I have two main tool storage spots…a wall mount rack and potting table with a garden tool rack are both in my garage, and a mobile tool organizer is positioned near my back deck. I also like to carry some tools around with me in a garden tool tote.
I know some people who keep duplicate pruners, trowels, knives and other small hand tools in small and large storage containers or sheds out in the garden -- Not stuck in the soil in your flower bed. You can buy storage sheds or containers for this job.
There Are Several Different Garden Tool Organizing Systems You Can Use.
. Wall Storage -- A wall mount rack may be perfect for some of your larger tools like rakes, hoes, shovels, pitchforks and some of your larger pruning tools. They can also be used for smaller tools like hand pruners, trowels and hand cultivators.
. Mobile Storage -- Similarly, standing or rolling garden tool organizers are suitable for either large or small garden tools and can be placed wherever you have space, either inside the garage or on a protected patio or inside a garden shed.
. Garden Carts Some garden carts have tool racks attached, so you can easily take some of those larger tools with you as you move around the garden
. The Garden Shed, itself is a good storage solution if you have the room in your yard for all kinds of tools large and small. If your objective is to have tools on site, small storage boxes or even an old cooler will work.
. Garden Tool Tote or Garden Tool Belt - Make perfect hand tool organizers and are good for carrying tools around with you as you work in your garden. If you like having pruners, a trowel, a garden knife and plant ties you can keep them in the tote and take them with you as you work.
There Are Several Things You Should Consider When You Are Trying To Decide How To Store Your Garden Tools:
. How many tools do you have?
. What type of tools you own — long-handled, short-handled, hand tools?
. How much space do you have for garden tool storage?
. Do you have wall space to hang garden tools or do you have only a small corner of the garage or porch?
. Where do you want to store them? Do you want them all in one place or are you like me and want them near the spot you are gardening in?
The answers to these questions will help you in making decisions about what kind of tool organizers to buy. The key thing is that you know what tools will be in each spot. This way you will be able to set up a garden tool organization that works for you and keep the right tool in the right place.

Gardening Tips
Having your tools in one place will help you keep track of which ones need sharpening and cleaning. This is something you should do regularly.
One tip for keeping tools clean and oiled is to keep a pail with sand in it. Fill that with motor oil or kitchen oil (the more eco friendly solution) and at least occasionally place your tools in the pail. The sand will knock off extra bits of soil you missed when you washed off your tool. The oil will help protect them from rust.
